The EOS R10 is a Handy and Capable Camera, Designed for Content Creators
The Canon EOS R10 is a sleek mirrorless camera with a hybrid design philosophy that places an emphasis on mobility without compromising capabilities. The R10 offers an APS-C sensor to the R system, coupled with high-speed shooting, clever AF, and excellent 4K video recording to support a multimedia workflow. It is also adept in the world of photography as well as the world of video.
APS-C CMOS Sensor with 24.2 Megapixels and DIGIC X Processing
EOS R Now Supports the APS-C Format
The 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor hits the sweet spot in terms of resolution, striking a great mix between resolution, file size, speed, and low-light performance. It also sits in the ideal spot in terms of file size.
The file sizes produced by this sensor are modest enough to make it useful for ordinary photography duties in addition to recording in UHD 4K. This makes it possible to do speedy continuous burst shooting as well as longer video recording.
DIGIC X Processor
The DIGIC X image processor was taken from the R3 and installed in the R10 so that it could do a number of high-speed activities. These duties include recording high-resolution video and performing continuous shooting.
In terms of high-speed shooting, the R10 is capable of up to 23 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting with a quiet electronic shutter or 15 frames per second with a mechanical shutter, with AF and AE readings being taken before each frame.
The processor also contributes to the realization of a large sensitivity range, which may be expanded up to ISO 51200 for the purpose of working in challenging lighting circumstances. This range extends from ISO 100-32000.
UHD 4K Video Recording
The R10’s sensor is capable of high-resolution UHD 4K 8-bit recording in addition to taking still photographs. Users have the option of recording at up to 60 frames per second when using a cropped portion of the sensor or at 30 frames per second when using an oversampled 6K recording area for enhanced sharpness, decreased moiré, and decreased noise. In addition, slow-motion playback is available up to Full HD quality with 120 frames per second recording.
Recording in HDR-PQ is also available, both in-camera for HDR creation in 10-bit and externally via the micro-HDMI connector, which provides a clean 4K output. Additionally, there is the possibility of recording for an indefinite amount of time, and the R10 is equipped with a connector for an external microphone in addition to a multi-function shoe that is compatible with a variety of accessories.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
The sophisticated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology was carried over from the EOS R3 and includes 651 automated AF points that cover the full sensor area. This allows for faster, more responsive, and more precise focusing performance.
This phase-detection focusing system also has enhanced subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals, and vehicles, and tracking will automatically lock onto these subjects and maintain sharp focus throughout burst captures.
Phase detection focuses on the edges of an object rather than the center, so it can detect and track moving subjects. The low-luminance limit of Dual Pixel AF II focuses down to a remarkable -4 EV, allowing for precise focusing even in low-light circumstances such as at night.
Body Design
Construction That Is Intuitive
- The high-resolution eye-level vision provided by the 2.36 million dots OLED electronic viewfinder is very bright and clear. This finder with a magnification of 0.95x benefits from rapid processing, which nearly eliminates any latency, and a quick refresh rate of 120 frames per second, which may be utilized for vivid, realistic motion representation.
- A 3.0″ vari-angle LCD is also available and advantages from high, low, and front-facing angles. The adjustable posture is accompanied by a touchscreen interface, and the crystal-clear resolution of 1.04 million dots makes it possible to watch live views and experience vivid replay.
- One SD card slot is rated for UHS-II card speeds, which enables smooth 4K video recording as well as high-speed continuous shooting.
Flexible Connectivity
Both wired and wireless connectivity options are offered, providing users with the flexibility to choose how they wish to send their still images and movies as well as how they choose to exercise remote control over the camera.
To facilitate video recording, the camera’s physical design includes a USB Type-C connector, a micro-HDMI port, and a 3.5mm microphone input. Additionally, the camera has a microSD card slot. When it comes to wireless connectivity, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both options for sending data and controlling a distant camera.
The Multi-Function Shoe of the Next Generation
The Multi-Function Shoe is an improvement over a traditional hot-shoe in that it includes a row of pins at the front of the design. This row of pins not only enables a greater range of functionality for accessories but also supplies power to certain kinds of accessories that have traditionally relied on separate batteries.
This improved shoe is compatible with a selection of accessories, such as the ST-E10 Speedlite Transmitter, the DM-E1D Stereo Microphone, and the AD-P1 Smartphone Link Adapter. Additionally, the AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter is compatible with legacy shoe-mounted accessories, so this shoe is compatible with all shoe-mounted accessories.
