Fujifilm GFX 50S II

Fujifilm GFX 50S II

The GFX 50S II from FUJIFILM is a medium format mirrorless camera that is beautifully tiny and portable, and it provides the ideal combination of accessibility and flexibility. This camera, which has a 51.4MP CMOS sensor and an upgraded X-Processor 4 image processor, creates files with an unusually broad dynamic range and high resolution.

It also has an increased sensitivity range of ISO 50-102400, which is useful when working in low-light situations. The huge form factor of the sensor also results in a three-dimensional appearance that is particularly smooth in terms of tone and color transitions.

It has also been updated with a five-axis in-body image stabilization system that can reduce camera shake by up to 6.5 stops for improved handheld shooting. This opens up a plethora of creative possibilities for image-makers who want to work more freely with slower shutter speeds while maintaining sharpness.

It has a 3.69m-dot electronic viewfinder on the front for high-resolution eye-level viewing and a 3.2-inch 2.36m-dot touchscreen LCD on the back with a three-way tilting design for working at high and low angles. Additionally, the GFX 50S II is constructed of magnesium alloy, making it both lightweight and sturdy. It is also dust- and weather-sealed, as well as freezeproof down to 14°F, making it ideal for use in adverse climatic situations.

4th Generation X-Processor (with 51.4MP CMOS sensor)

The GFX 50S II is equipped with a large, 43.8 x 32.9mm 51.4MP CMOS sensor and an upgraded X-Processor 4, which allows it to capture high-resolution, 14-bit still images over a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100-12800, which can be expanded to ISO 50-102400 with an optional extension.

As a result of the enormous size of each pixel, a more effective light collection is possible, resulting in smoother tonal and color transitions, which results in the characteristic three-dimensional “medium format appearance.” Other classic medium and large format aspect ratios, such as 1:1, 65:24, 5:4, 7:6, 3:2, and 16:9, can be utilized to create a range of medium format looks in addition to the usual 4:3, including 1:1, 65:24, 5:4, 7:6, 3:2, and 16:9.

The image processor and sensor also enable continuous photography at up to 3 frames per second and Full HD 1080p video recording at frame rates of 29.97, 25, 24, and 23.98 frames per second.

Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization

The GFX 50S II differs from its predecessor in that it incorporates an in-body image stabilization technology that can deliver up to 6.5 stops of five-axis stabilization, which is an astounding achievement. If you wish to work more freely with slow shutter speeds, this opens up a whole new world of possibilities for you as an image creator.

A system with 117 autofocus points

A 117-point autofocus system, which works in conjunction with the upgraded image processor, provides razor-sharp reactions, whether tracking a moving subject or picking out a face in a crowd. Autofocusing performance is enhanced across the board, with face and eye identification being among the most noticeable improvements.

Added Capabilities for the Camera

In addition, the FUJIFILM G lens mount has a short focal flange distance of only 26.7mm, which makes it easier to adapt lenses and allows for shorter back focusing distances, which helps to prevent vignetting and promote edge-to-edge sharpness when using the GF series of lenses. The FUJIFILM G lens mount is compatible with the GF series of lenses.

Photographers may recreate the appearance and feel of 19 different film types, including Provia, Velvia, Astia, Eterna, Classic Chrome, Classic Neg., and Pro Neg. Hi (high contrast), Pro Neg. Standard (standard contrast), Acros (monochrome), and Sepia. Additionally, the Grain Effect, as well as the Classic Chrome effect, maybe tweaked to fine-tune the appearance of the images.

Working with a mechanical focal plane allows for shutter speeds ranging from 60 minutes to 1/4000 second while working with an electronic shutter allows for shutter speeds of up to 1/16000 second when working in strong light settings.

It is equipped with two SD memory card ports, which allow for the storage of imagery in a sequential fashion, a backup/duplicate method, or a sorted manner to distinguish between JPEG and raw data.
The X Acquire program allows you to tether your camera to your computer, which then transfers photographs from the camera to a hot folder on your PC for additional editing. The Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and the HS-V5 for Windows operating systems are also available as alternatives.
