The X-H2S Is Fujifilm’s Latest Hybrid Camera
The FUJIFILM X-H2S is a multimedia mirrorless camera that was designed by Fujifilm and features a newly enhanced X-Trans stacked sensor, refined autofocus and subject identification, and exceptional 6.2K video recording. It is capable of taking high-quality photos as well as videos.
This camera, which serves as the flagship of the X System, combines the user-friendliness, design, and picture quality that FUJIFILM is famous for with an innovative, quick approach to the use of the camera in video and continuous shooting applications.
X-Processor 5
Alongside the newly built sensor is a whole new engine called the X-Processor 5, which makes use of 64-bit processing to achieve speeds that are three times quicker than those of the X-T4 in terms of both video and picture duties.
On the video side, this enables recording at up to 6.2K with high bitrates such as ProRes 422 HQ or at high speeds, such as with 240 fps recording at Full HD. On the audio side, this permits recording at up to 48K with high bitrates such as AAC.
When it comes to still photography, this rapid processing allows for speedier shooting, which is ideal for capturing moving scenes. When using an electronic shutter, it is able to take photos at a rate of up to 40 frames per second, and the buffer can hold up to 140 uncompressed raw frames in a row.
When using the mechanical shutter, it is possible to achieve shooting speeds of up to 15 frames per second (fps), and it is also possible to capture up to 1000 raw images in a single burst.
This processing helps produce a 14-stop dynamic range, allowing a large sensitivity range that goes from ISO 160-12800, and benefits both the video and still photography applications. It also advantages the very advanced focusing mechanism that is supported by artificial intelligence.
Stacking of the sensors and processing in 64 bits
Stack of five BSI Sensors for the X-Trans 5
The X-H2S is the first camera in the X Series to contain a stacked sensor. It has an APS-C-format 26.1MP X-Trans 5 stacked BSI sensor, which increases readout rates and enhances the camera’s performance in low light compared to earlier generations of the camera.
First, because it is an X-Trans sensor, it makes use of the one-of-a-kind color filter array that naturally minimizes moiré and contributes to more natural color rendering; second, the BSI design helps reduce noise and improve tonality and clarity;
and third, the stacked design greatly reduces rolling shutter and other motion distortion, making it better suited for high-speed video and photo applications.
Capabilities for Producing Powerful Videos
Internal Recording at 4K 120p and 6.2K 30p Resolutions
This camera falls solidly into the ‘hybrid’ category thanks to its well-rounded recording technology, which allows it to perform admirably both for video and for video. The X-H2S, which has a preference for video, has a fondness for video.
Internal recording in 4:2:2 10-bit is supported in DCI/UHD 4K at up to 120p and in Full HD at up to 240p. Additionally, an open-gate 3:2 6.2K mode that is appropriate for anamorphic applications is available. In addition, a number of other codecs are supported, such as H.265, as well as three different levels of the ProRes codec:
the high bitrate 422 HQ, the normal 422, and the more compressed 422 LT. Additionally, recording lengths of up to ninety minutes may be maintained continuously across all frame rates and resolutions.
Enhanced capabilities of both Autofocus and Image Stabilization
Hybrid artificial vision system with deep learning AI
As a result of the upgraded processing, the performance of the focusing function is both substantially quicker and more intelligent. This hybrid focusing system includes 425 phase-detection points, and its sensitivity has been improved to -7 EV, allowing it to function effectively even in extremely dim lighting.
In addition, thanks to deep learning and an AI adaptable algorithm, this focusing system is better equipped to automatically recognize and monitor a wide variety of subjects. This makes it a more useful tool. When compared to earlier focusing systems, the Facial and Eye Detection capabilities of the X-H2S have been tuned for higher accuracy and to account for distinctive features such as spectacles, face coverings, and hairlines.
Additionally, the X-H2S has improved its ability to detect smiles. In addition, the variety of sorts of topics that are now acknowledged in art has increased to include automobiles, airplanes, trains, motorcycles, birds, horses, dogs, cats, and many more animals.
Raw recording is taken from the outside.
Raw video recording is available when an external recorder that is compatible with the full-size HDMI connector is used in conjunction with the device.
It is possible to record in both ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW, as well as in F-Log or F-Log 2 profiles, and either format enables working in resolutions up to the open-gate limit of 6.2K. Additionally, it is possible to work with F-Log or F-Log 2 profiles.
Image Stabilization Contained Within the Body
The appearance of blur caused by camera shake can be reduced by as much as seven stops thanks to the built-in 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization. This technology is beneficial when dealing with slower shutter speeds and while shooting in challenging lighting settings.
It works in conjunction with the majority of the X Series lenses, even those that do not have image stabilization. Additionally, digital image stabilization may be utilized throughout the video recording process to further assist in the stabilizing of footage, which is especially helpful while filming handheld.
PC sync port for synchronizing flash.
A 2.5mm remote connection is provided so that wired remote controllers can be used.
Integrated connectivity through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi makes it possible to wirelessly transfer photos to a mobile device, as well as to use that mobile device to exercise remote control over the camera.
Film Simulation Modes
Film Simulation modes provide you the ability to recreate the appearance and feel of a number of different FUJIFILM film types, such as Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, Classic Neg., and Nostalgic Neg., and Pro Neg. Hi, Pro Neg.
Body Design
- Design that is both functional and long-lasting
- Bright, clear, and detailed eye-level viewing is provided by a large OLED electronic viewfinder that has a resolution of sharp 5.76 million dots and a magnification of 0.8 times.
- Rear 3.0 “LCD displays provide a high resolution of 1.62 million dots and a touchscreen interface for easy navigation and control. Aside from that, the screen may be flipped out to the side, tilted up or down, and even closed with the screen against the body for more protection. This is made possible by the design of the device’s variable-angle feature.
- 1.28 “An easy method for rapidly evaluating the shooting settings is provided by a monochrome LCD screen located on the top plate.
- Files may be saved in a variety of formats using the device’s dual memory card slots, which consist of one CFexpress Type B slot and one SD UHS-II slot. The CFexpress Type B slot is the one that should be preferred for higher bitrate video recording and faster continuous shooting, while the SD slot is a convenient option that may be used for backups or shooting that is less speed-critical.
- When using the electronic viewfinder (EVF) in Economy Mode, the NP-W235 battery can provide roughly 720 frames per charge, whereas in Normal Mode it can produce approximately 580 frames.
Connectivity
- port of the full-size HDMI Type A kind, which may be used to send video to an external recorder or display.
- Tethering, data transfer, and charging of the camera’s internal battery are all supported through the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface.
- 3.5mm connections for both headphones and external microphones, allowing for more command over audio recording.
Standard, Eterna, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, Monochrome, and Sepia are the several color modes that are available. In addition, the Grain Effect and the Color Chrome effect may also be tweaked in order to get the desired appearance for the image.
