Offering strong stills and video features, along with a small, utilitarian design, the FUJIFILM X-T30 II is a versatile mirrorless camera defined by superior stills and video recording along with sleek and intuitive handling qualities. Featuring a redesigned image sensor and processor, both high-resolution stills and 4K video can be captured while an upgraded autofocus mechanism gives a fast and precise focusing performance.
The 26.1MP APS-C-format X-Trans CMOS 4 image sensor boasts a back-illuminated design to enhance higher image quality throughout the sensitivity range coupled with a 425-point phase-detection autofocus system for rapid, precise AF performance and subject tracking. The 100 percent phase-detect autofocus delivers powerful face and eye detection autofocus with a new Face Selection option.
Complementing the imaging and focusing is the X-Processor 4, which employs four CPUs for speedier picture processing as well as continuous shooting up to 8 fps with a mechanical shutter, 30 fps shooting at a 1.25x crop with the electronic shutter, and inbuilt DCI/UHD 4K30 video recording.
Sharing a recognizable style of FUJIFILM X-series cameras, the X-T30 II has a black finish and classically inspired appearance, has prominent physical buttons, and features a high-resolution 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. The rear 3.0″ 1.62m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD may also be utilized for live view shooting and bigger picture playback. Additionally, the X-T30 II also has built-in Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote control.
With the sensor and processor from APS-C X-Trans, the camera can capture 26.1MP images.
With an APS-C sensor format and back-illuminated design, the X-T30 II offers smooth tonal rendering and improved low-light performance, as well as a low native ISO 160 setting. The sensor is shared with the professional-oriented X-T3, and the X-T30 II features an APS-C format and back-illuminated design.
X-Trans sensors also employ a randomized pixel array; this, together with the lack of an optical low-pass filter, allows for excellent image clarity and sharpness, as demonstrated by the Canon EOS 5D Mark III. By mimicking the organic nature of film rather than traditional pixel patterns, the X-Trans design produces more nuanced colors and tonal transitions while also eliminating moiré and other artifacts.
There is also a phase-detection focusing technology built into the sensor’s architecture that is 100 percent accurate and has 425 customizable points that span virtually the whole sensor surface. This AF system provides faster and more accurate focusing performance, as well as low-light sensitivity down to EV -7, thanks to its hybrid design.
As an addition to the imaging and focusing capabilities, an updated X-Processor 4 is included, which provides faster focus response for subject tracking while working in AF-C mode and while recording video. It also supports Face and Eye Detection AF when working in AF-C mode and while recording video.
In addition, the X-Processor 4 makes use of four CPU units for speedier picture processing, which improves overall performance by allowing for faster autofocus and tracking rates. Continuous shooting at speeds of up to 8 frames per second with a mechanical shutter or 30 frames per second with an electronic shutter and a 1.25x crop is feasible, and internal UHD 4K30 video recording with F-Log is also conceivable.
Video Recording in Ultra HD and DCI 4K Resolution
It is more than just an excellent photography tool; it also has an impressive variety of video features, including internal UHD 4K30 video recording at speeds of up to 200 Mb/s and the ability to record both externally and internally at the same time.
It is also able to record in DCI 4K30 and Full HD 1080p120 resolutions, and video files may be recorded using either MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 or HEVC/H.265 compressions, as well as in 4K. Speedy read rates while recording 4K video, enabled by the quad-CPU X-Processor 4, contribute significantly to overall video performance by reducing rolling shutter distortion when capturing moving subjects. This has a significant impact on overall video performance.
Also included in this model is the F-Log gamma option, which creates a flat image that may be used in advanced color grading applications during editing. This increases the possible dynamic range in tough circumstances, and picture modifications may be made to the highlight tone, shadow tone, color, and sharpness, as well as the overall contrast and sharpness.
If you are shooting in F-Log, you may take advantage of an improved noise reduction algorithm as well as 4K inter-frame noise reduction. The minimum sensitivity has been dropped to ISO 640 in order to accommodate working in a wider range of scene types.
The X-Processor 4 quad-core CPU inside X-T30 II employs Intelligent Hybrid AF to give quick, accurate focus in as little as 0.02 sec on any subject, but major upgrades have been made to follow moving subjects, enhancing autofocus for both stills and its strong 4K/30p video capabilities.
Low light focusing performance has also been enhanced from the original model, down to -7EV. 425 sensors give 100 percent phase detect AF across the frame, including powerful face and eye detection AF with new Face Selection feature.
Design of the Body
- A 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with a 0.62x magnification and a quick refresh rate, as well as a broad viewing angle and customizable diopter settings, provides a bright and clear method for eye-level viewing. If you shoot at the highest possible frame rate of 30 frames per second, the viewfinder will stay blackout-free, and a special Sports Finder Mode may be used to emphasize a 16.6MP crop area of the sensor so that you can see beyond the frame boundaries of the image frame is available.
- An optional rear 3.0″ 1.62m-dot LCD touchscreen is also available for intuitive live view shooting, playback and review, as well as settings change and menu navigation, in addition to the electronic viewfinder. The screen includes a two-way tilting design to accommodate working from high and low angles regardless of whether the camera is in a horizontal or vertical posture when filming.
- Several dials and levers are located on the top plate, allowing for quick and intuitive control over exposure settings. These include a shutter speed dial that allows for direct shutter speed adjustment, a mode dial, and an exposure compensation dial that allows for adjustments of +/- 3 EV in 1/3 steps, with the range expanding to +/- 5 EV when the command dial is in the up position for even more control.
- To make it easier to operate, both the front and rear command dials have a push function. In addition, the settings selection and function buttons may be assigned to control a wide variety of settings.
- A separate Focus Lever allows for faster and more intuitive control over selecting precise focus areas while shooting with a dedicated camera.
- The camera’s built-in Bluetooth 4.2 low-energy technology allows you to wirelessly exchange photographs with a mobile device or use the device to control the camera remotely.
There are 18 different film simulation and grain effect modes.
The X-T30 II incorporates a number of Film Simulation modes, which take advantage of FUJIFILM’s extensive experience with conventional film-based photographic techniques. Some of FUJIFILM’s classic film types are replicated in these customizable modes, including Eterna (which mimics the look of cinematic film with understated colors and richer shadow tones), Acros (which provides smooth tones, deep blacks, and fine detail), and Classic Chrome (which is designed to deliver muted tones and a deep color reproduction, similar to that of a dated slide film).
Other effects are also available for both monochrome and color photography, in addition to the ones listed above. Apart from replicating specific film types, a customisable Grain Effect option is also available to imitate the look of antique film images with an organic grainy appearance, which is particularly visible when printing.
Bluetooth V4.2 with Wi-Fi Sharing
Use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to share photographs with friends and family on social media, by connecting and downloading images to the FUJIFILM Camera Remote App, or quickly connect and print your favorites from any compatible FUJIFILM INSTAX Smartphone printer.
