  • Download the file so that any updates may be made, then do an extraction on the file.

You can get the firmware that you’ll be using at the end.

  • Download the firmware for your camera as file, then save it to your computer.

There are some instances in which the file will be saved in the “Download” folder automatically.

  • Remove the file’s compression.

Depending on the environment of the PC, there are some instances in which the file will be automatically uncompressed.

  • Check to see if the “LX10 V12.bin” or “LX15 V12.bin” file was successfully extracted.

Put the downloaded file of the firmware onto an SD memory card.

In the previous step, Step 1, you extracted the file. Now, prepare an SD memory card containing the file.

  • Preparing the Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card.

It is necessary to have at least as much empty space on the SD Memory Card as the size of the extracted file (either “LX10 V12.bin” or “LX15 V12.bin”) and to use an SD Memory Card that has previously been prepared for usage with the DMC-LX10/LX15. For further information, kindly see the accompanying instruction manual.

  • Make a copy of the firmware file and save it to an SD Memory Card.
  • Put the SD memory card that has been formatted into the SD slot of your computer.

The file that was extracted (either “LX10 V12.bin” or “LX15 V12.bin”) should be copied into the SD Memory Card. Use an external USB SD Reader/Writer device if your own computer does not have an SD slot built in.

  • Make a copy of the file and paste it into the SD Memory Card’s Root directory.

The term “Root directory” refers to the directory that is at the very top of the directory tree.
