The Sony Alpha 7 is a mirrorless full-frame E-mount camera. The only difference between the A7 and its more expensive sister (the A7R) is that the A7 employs a 24-megapixel CMOS sensor with on-chip phase detection. The A7 twins are the industry’s tiniest and lightest full-frame cameras.
Even though the cameras are compatible with all E-mount lenses, there will be a crop factor (unless you don’t mind vignetting). Sony is developing a new line of FE-series lenses that make use of the bigger sensor.
The A7 utilises the latest Sony Bionz X processor, which generates images with more quality, less noise, and less diffraction. Other features include a 3-inch LCD with tilting functionality, an XGA OLED electronic viewfinder, a Multi-interface (hot) shoe, Wi-Fi with NFC, and 1080/60p video recording.
