JVC GY-HC550 Manual

The GY-HC550 Handheld Connected Cam 1″ 4K Professional Camcorder from JVC is a UHD 4K camcorder that is capable of shooting in frame rates that are compatible with both NTSC and PAL. Additionally, this camcorder is designed to work seamlessly with both a traditional workflow as well as an IP workflow.

The camera has a number of useful broadcast-related capabilities built into it, such as a broadcast overlay, GPS information, and MPEG-2 encoding in high definition, which facilitates simple interaction with older broadcasting systems. In addition to that, there is a wireless LAN and the Zixi wireless protocol already embedded inside the camera.

In addition to having a 1″ CMOS sensor and an inbuilt 20x optical zoom lens, the GY-HC550 also has the ability to generate a 40x digital zoom with its built-in software. Recording can take place in either HLG or JLog1 thanks to the camera’s capability for HDR (10-bit).

The camera is able to record High Definition video in MPEG-2 and stream High Definition video over IP using a wired connection. It can also record Ultra High Definition video in a variety of flavors of ProRes and in MP4. The integrated 20x zoom lens has three manual control rings: one for adjusting the iris, one for adjusting the focus, and one for zooming in and out. The electronic viewfinder (EVF) has a resolution of over 1.2 million dots, while the built-in LCD viewfinder can be flipped out and has a diagonal measurement of a little under 4 inches.

The camera supports IFB and returns video over IP, in addition to auto FTP, which enables the video files you record to be automatically sent. It contains a port for an optional solid-state drive, as well as two card slots for SDHC and SDXC, and it can record in UHD at 60 or 50 frames per second.
