Leica M10-R

Leica M10-R

A digital rangefinder camera that puts the “R” in resolution, the Leica M10-R is a high-resolution spin on the classic, stills-only design of the famed M10-series that has been around for decades.

The M10-R is based on an excellent 40MP full-frame CMOS sensor and Maestro II image processor, and it is differentiated by its image quality, dynamic range, and sensitivity, with an ISO range of 100 to 50000 and low noise.

It is also recognized for its low noise. In addition to supporting the applications that need a higher resolution design, the M10-R has a wider shutter speed range that allows for long exposures of up to 16 minutes for nighttime and low-light photography.

Leica’s vast lens portfolio benefits from the improved resolution and modified sensor structure, which further highlights the distinctive optical characteristics of Leica’s extensive lens lineup.

Outlined by a thin body profile evocative of M film cameras, the M10-R has a huge 0.73x optical viewfinder for exceptional composition and focusing precision, as well as an upgraded sensor with improved performance.

Furthermore, the body design contains a separate ISO dial for rapid adjustment, even when the camera is switched off, and the back 3.0″ 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD is protected by a Gorilla Glass cover to prevent scratches and minor impacts.

The top and bottom plates are made of brass, and the chassis is made of magnesium alloy, all of which contribute to the overall longevity of the product. This results in a physically sturdy product that can be used for a long time.

Additionally, the M10-R is equipped with an integrated Wi-Fi module, which allows for wireless sharing and remote camera control from a connected mobile device, among other features.

M10-R is designated for Resolution.

The M-10R, which is built around a 40MP full-frame CMOS sensor, stands apart from the rest of the M10 series of cameras because of its high resolution and ability to capture images for extended periods of time.

Beyond the classic Leica applications of street and reportage photography, these capabilities also appeal to landscape and wildlife photographers, and they allow photographers to make full use of the superb Leica lens range, which is now available.

Beyond its smaller form factor and whisper-quiet operation, the M10-R keeps its slender appearance, which includes a distinguishing red dot on the front of the camera, a simple top plate, and an exquisite black chrome finish.

Full-frame CMOS sensor with 40MP resolution and Maestro II processor

Full-frame color 40.89MP CMOS sensor and the Maestro II image processor work together to produce images with an impressively wide dynamic range, noticeable color saturation, and contrast and increased sensitivity from ISO 100 to 50000 to accommodate shooting in a variety of lighting conditions. The Maestro II image processor is also included.

In addition, the sensor’s architecture does not have an optical low-pass filter, which allows for improved sharpness and resolution.

Both an optical viewfinder and a rangefinder are used.

The optical viewfinder is a big, bright-line 0.73x rangefinder with automated parallax adjustment and bright-line frame lines that are calibrated to match the image sensor size at a focusing distance of 6.6′.

It has a 0.73x magnification and is equipped with bright-line frame lines. An optical viewfinder frame selector can be found on the front of the camera, and it may be used to manually modify the apparent picture field to aid see the scene with changing focal lengths; possibilities are available in focal length pairings of 35mm/135mm, 28 mm/90mm, and 50mm/75mm.

The rangefinder system produces split or overlaid bright field pictures inside the center of the viewfinder in order to aid in proper manual focusing. This distance is the effective rangefinder metering base (50.6mm) (mechanical metering basis 69.31mm x viewfinder magnification of 0.73x)

Built-in wireless internet connectivity and a slim body profile

  • evocative of Leica’s film cameras, make handling and manipulation more convenient.
  • The top plate incorporates an integrated ISO dial, which allows for quick and direct change of sensitivity levels even when the camera is switched off.
  • The backside of the camera has only three buttons: one for live view, one for playback, and one for the menu, allowing for more streamlined and easy navigation of the camera’s control-set and menu.
  • It is possible to construct a Favorites menu, which allows you to designate your most frequently used settings and pick them for quick, one-touch access.
  • For picture playback and live view shooting, the 3.0″ 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD delivers an easy, bright, and big interface.
  • In order to protect the rear LCD monitor from scratches and accidents, it has been covered with Corning Gorilla Glass.
  • The top and bottom plates are machined from solid blocks of brass, while the chassis is constructed from magnesium alloy, resulting in a physical design that is extremely sturdy and long-lasting.
  • Rubber seals are used to prevent the entry of light rain and dust, which allows workers to continue working in adverse weather.
  • Integrated Wi-Fi allows for direct picture transfer to a connected smartphone, as well as remote operation of the camera, including the ability to alter specific shooting parameters and to trigger the shutter remotely using the Leica FOTOS app.

Additional Camera Functions

  • A mechanical shutter that operates at a near-silent level for covert shooting.
  • A built-in 2GB buffer allows you to record bursts of up to 10 consecutive frames at 4.5 frames per second.
  • DNG images are captured in 14-bit resolution, while JPEG images are saved in 8-bit resolution.
  • The use of an external flash is enabled by the presence of a top hot shoe, which has a maximum sync speed of 1/180 sec.
  • When working in live view, focus peaking may be used to emphasize borders of contrast for simpler and more precise manual focus adjustment when manual focus adjustment is required.
  • Leica R-mount lenses are also compatible with the M-mount system, which is designed to take all M-mount lenses. An optional R to M converter is available.
  • Compatible with the optional Visoflex auxiliary electronic viewfinder, which allows you to manually focus adapted lenses when shooting in low light.
  • Languages supported include German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Korean. Language support is available in the following languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, and Russian.
