The black Panasonic Lumix G7 is a real hybrid mirrorless camera that combines 4K UHD video recording with excellent still capture and burst shooting capabilities. It is a true hybrid camera since it offers true recording flexibility.

In addition to its 16 MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor and Venus Engine 9 image processor, the G7 offers impressive low-light sensitivity up to ISO 25600, continuous shooting up to 8 frames per second with single-shot autofocus, and a trio of 30 frames per second shooting rates based on the 4K UHD video recording capabilities.

The DFD autofocus technology, which aims to accelerate focusing rates and stress precise subject tracking for consistently clear pictures in fast-paced and challenging working settings, is a perfect complement to the fast burst shooting modes.

The G7’s feature set is completed by a modern body design that is accentuated by physical exposure control dials, six customisable function buttons, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, and a 3.0″ LCD touchscreen “With a tilting touchscreen LCD and built-in Wi-Fi, you can share photos and control the camera from anywhere. The Lumix DMC-G7 bridges the gap between still photography and videography by combining these two high-resolution mediums with enhanced focusing and shooting capabilities, resulting in the ultimate in shooting versatility.

The well-rounded Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. lens is included with the camera body and covers a 28-84mm equivalent focal length range, allowing users to capture images from wide-angle to short telephoto viewpoints.

In order to capture crisper handheld images, an Optical Image Stabilizer is included, as is a pair of aspherical elements, which serve to keep the total lens size down while maintaining a high level of sharpness and clarity across the zoom range.

Venus Engine 9 with a 16 MP Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine 9

In conjunction with an improved Venus Engine 9, the 16 MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor delivers rapid overall performance with matching picture quality to accommodate working in a variety of lighting settings while maintaining consistency in the final product.

Its ISO sensitivity extends from 200 to 25600, with the possibility to be reduced to as low as ISO 100 for working in bright circumstances or with longer shutter speeds if necessary. High continuous shooting speeds may be combined with AF using the camera’s several burst shooting modes, which include shooting up to 8 frames per second with AF-S, 6 frames per second with AF-C in a single area, and 6 frames per second while in live view.

Even quicker performance is available with the electronic shutter feature, which allows for up to 40 frames per second shooting at 8 MP or 30 frames per second at 8 MP when using the 4K Photo Modes.

Image quality is further enhanced by the use of correct white balance settings, Live TTL direct exposure metering, and clever NR (Noise Reduction) management, which results in clean, natural pictures.

The Venus Engine 9 also helps to reduce picture blur caused by diffraction by employing electronic adjustment to automatically sharpen edges for sharper results when photography with lower aperture sizes, which is particularly useful when photographing with smaller aperture sizes.

4K Ultra-High-Definition Video Recording

Beyond the numerous still-shooting options, the G7 is capable of recording 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) video at 30p or 24p frame rates at 100Mbps in the MP4 format, depending on the frame rate selected. Full HD 1080p/60 is also supported, in both MP4 and AVCHD formats, as well as HD and SD resolutions, in addition to the standard definition formats.

During recording, a built-in stereo microphone with an inbuilt wind-cut filter may be used, or an optional external microphone can be connected through the 3.5mm port for even clearer sound. A built-in stereo microphone with an integrated wind-cut filter is included.

Photo Modes in 4K Resolution

In addition to the 4K video recording capabilities, a trio of still shooting modes are available for capturing continuous 8 MP stills at 30 frames per second shooting rate. These are as follows:

4K Burst: Similar to video recording, this mode will allow you to continually record 8 MP photos at 30 frames per second for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds, making it perfect for situations where you need to capture the greatest moment possible at a rapid frame rate.

4K Pre-Burst: This mode is useful for situations in which you are unsure of when to press the shutter button. It will record 8 MP images at 30 frames per second one second before and one second after pressing the shutter button, giving you a total of 60 frames to choose from when pressing the shutter button.

4K Burst (S/S): This mode is the most closely related to the 4K video recording process, and it allows you to playback your video, pause it at a predetermined point, and then use the shutter button to select a single frame from the video and save it as a single 8 MP frame. It is also the most expensive mode.

When shooting in any of the 4K Photo modes, you have total control over the exposure by using the PSAM dial. This allows you to tailor the metering results and exposure setups to your specific shooting requirements.

Depth-From-Defocus AF Technology is a type of automatic focus.

When it comes to accelerated autofocus performance, which can be achieved in low-light conditions as low as -4 EV, DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) technology is used to quickly calculate the distance to subjects and adjusts the focusing position, with adjustments taking as little as 0.07 seconds in some cases.

In addition to benefiting both still and video recording modes, this contrast-detection type focus method is also useful in subject tracking applications, where the subject’s color, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock on to moving subjects and ensure precise focus on the moving subjects

Focus peaking, which emphasizes bright edges of contrast with a colored outline for rapidly detecting your focus point, as well as the depth of field distances, is available for manual focus operation to assist with manual focus operation.

Wi-Fi and the design of the body

The G7, which has a sleek form that is distinctive of Micro Four Thirds cameras, combines retro elements with current technology to provide straightforward operation and traditional aesthetic appeal. Direct control of the aperture and shutter speed is provided through the front and back dials, as is the ability to quickly change the ISO and white balance settings.

Six function buttons may be programmed to operate a variety of unique features, while the primary drive wheel allows for quick change between shooting modes, including the 4K Photo mode, and other functions.

An electronic viewfinder with excellent quality and an LCD display on the back of the camera are both offered for increased shooting versatility. Because of the 10,000:1 contrast ratio of the 2.36 million dot OLED Live View Finder, it is possible to see scenes clearly and accurately even in low light conditions.

The 3.0 is a version of 3.0 “With a static touchscreen design for straightforward navigation and control, the 1.04m-dot LCD also has a vari-angle design for greater ease of use while working from high and low angles, respectively.

The G7 also has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows users to wirelessly share photographs and remotely manage the camera from a connected mobile device via the Panasonic Image App, which completes the camera’s handling capabilities.

The connection is made easier by employing a QR code method to couple the smartphone or tablet with the camera, as seen in the image below.

Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. Lens (Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH.

The Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. is a flexible standard zoom lens with a focal range of 14-42mm. With an Optical Image Stabilizer, MEGA O.I.S. is a 28-84mm equivalent wide-to-short telephoto lens that allows you to capture crisper handheld images while minimizing the impression of camera shake for sharper handheld images.

Two aspherical elements have been added to the lens design in order to minimize the overall size and weight of the lens while also improving the sharpness and clarity of the images. An internal focusing mechanism, which works in conjunction with the camera’s contrast-detection autofocus technology, ensures that the camera’s focusing performance is rapid and accurate.
