Best Nikon D600 Memory Cards

Best Nikon D600 Memory Cards

One week prior to the Photokina trade event in September, Nikon made the highly anticipated and widely leaked announcement of the D600 digital SLR camera. The Nikon D600 is a full-frame digital single-lens reflex camera that is priced to appeal to enthusiasts. The Nikon D600 has body-only pricing of $2099, which places it on a level with Canon’s recently announced 21-megapixel full-frame EOS 6D and makes it substantially more affordable than the Nikon D800, which has 36 megapixels.

Even though the Canon EOS 6D will be released shortly after the Nikon D600, it is still a noteworthy camera because it offers a build quality and operational ergonomics that are comparable to those of the widely used DX-format D7000. At a price point that places it within the reach of many enthusiasts and matches or exceeds the pixel count of every other full-frame DSLR except for one (the D800), the D600 is Nikon’s entry-level DSLR.

Remembering that the Canon EOS 1Ds, the world’s first full-frame digital single-lens reflex camera, was introduced nearly ten years ago is a sobering thought for those of us who have been covering the industry for a long. It doesn’t seem like that long ago that full-frame was the holy grail of consumer digital imaging. It promised freedom from crop factors once and for all, as well as a return to a more straightforward era in which a 24mm lens was actually a 24mm lens. However, in recent years, full-frame has fallen out of favor.

The Nikon D600 is the most reasonably priced full-frame DSLR that the business has ever produced. It has twin card slots that are compatible with memory cards in the SD (Secure Digital) format (unlike the Nikon D800, the Nikon D600 does not use CompactFlash memory cards). The following is a list of the most suitable memory cards for the Nikon D600. When using the JPEG file format, a 32GB memory card can store around 2,000 photographs, while 760 photos may be stored using the Camera RAW format.

1. SanDisk Extreme 32GB

  • Minimum Write Speed: 10 Megabytes per Second (Class 10)
  • Maximum Writing Capacity: 45 MB per Second
  • Maximum Writing Capacity: 45 MB per Second

When it comes to memory cards, the SanDisk Extreme is the one that works best with the Nikon D600. The SanDisk Extreme has to write and read rates of up to 45 MB per second, which is fast enough for the majority of today’s consumers. The card costs $33 for a storage capacity of 32 GB. The SanDisk High, like the SanDisk Extreme Pro below it, is resistant to water, shock, X-rays, and extreme temperatures. It also has a rating for extreme temperatures.

2. SanDisk Extreme Pro SD Memory Card

  • Minimum Write Speed: 10 Megabytes per Second (Class 10)
  • Maximum Writing Capacity: 90 MB per Second
  • Maximum Writing Capacity: 95 MB per Second

If you routinely shoot high-definition video, high-speed bursts, or transmit enormous volumes of information, the SanDisk Extreme Pro is the ideal professional SD memory card for the Nikon D600. It is SanDisk’s fastest SD memory card, with write speeds of up to 90 MB per second, and it includes a sturdy build just like the SanDisk Extreme memory card that was discussed previously.

3. 2 Gigabyte Lexar Professional Card

  • Minimum Write Speed: 10 Megabytes per Second (Class 10)
  • Maximum Writing Capacity: 45 MB per Second
  • Maximum Reading Capacity: 90 MB/S

When it comes to the industry of professional memory cards, Lexar is a dominant player. Even though Sandisk has caught up to Lexar when it comes to the write and read rates for SD cards, individuals that shoot HD video, quick bursts, or camera RAW continue to favor Lexar. Since the two firms produce products of comparable quality, the SanDisk Extreme Pro that was just mentioned offers a better value than the other option.
